The ICE (Integrated Control Environment) is the undisputed king of all types of suspension systems. With vastly superior shock and vibration dampening to any single axis suspension seat. This is because the ICE provides 16in/406mm of suspension travel in the vertical axis and approximately 3 degrees of pitch and roll dampening.
Pitch and roll control filters out much of the side to side and fore and aft shock and vibration which single axis seats cannot do.
The ICE was proven on an 8000 mile journey through the Northwest Passage in 2010 by Shockwave president David Smith and television adventure guru Bear Grylls.
This was the first ever crossing of the Northwest Passage in a RIB. The ICE console made it possible to cross the most treacherous bodies of water on earth including the North Atlantic, Baffin Sea, Beaufort Sea, Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska at high speed in all weather.
The close crew proximity of the ICE provides a collaborative, high situational awareness, protected environment.
It is much easier to see and operate controls and electronics because they move with the occupants.
The shock and vibration forces that the ICE is capable of absorbing are likely to cause problems with electronics and hardware, however, with everything in suspension they are fully protected along with the crew.
This is a highly customizable solution with seating for up to 6 persons. Hard or soft sides can be added. The roof can be deleted if an open cockpit is required.
ICE consoles are custom made for the users application and customers are urged to contact Shockwave for assistance with ordering this product.
Do you need to seat more people or mount more equipment? The patent ICE concept can be widened and stretched to accommodate your needs.
The ICE proved its worth on the Northwest Passage voyage. As Bear Grylls said after completing the treacherous northern route “without it - this would have been a whole different ball game.”
