SHOCKWAVE’s parent company, Professional Components Ltd., was founded in 1965 as a NASCAR chassis builder for championship level race vehicles. To understand exactly how our products perform, we put them to the test in some of the toughest conditions on earth – literally. In 2010, SHOCKWAVE founder and president, David Smith, completed an 8000-mile journey using SHOCKWAVE technology, taking an 11-meter open-hull RIB, from St. John’s, Newfoundland, over Canada through the Arctic Circle and the Northwest Passage, around Alaska and back home to Victoria, BC.

SHOCKWAVE Seats helped Dave get through the challenging and often dangerous conditions along the way, putting him into the record books and giving him firsthand knowledge of what his products can do from one ocean to another.

The conditions in the North Pacific are some of the most challenging proving grounds anywhere in the world – and we have a fleet of boats dedicated to putting our products to the test in those waters. Our employees are Transport Canada certified coxswains who regularly put our seats through the ringer, testing for durability, speed, comfort and any other variables that could affect our products.

In water testing is backed by laboratory testing in a controlled environment. Shockwave was the first shock mitigation seat builder to have its own drop testing system and continues to lead in the field of certified performance.

Seating System

SHOCKWAVE and Corbin have developed a complete line of seats which the user can mix or match components to provide the ideal seat for their requirements. This is truly the first and only configurable seat system in the world.

This system consists of many different suspension modules in various travel lengths and applications. These modules can be mounted in several different ways from deck to bulkhead mount – or you can purchase any SHOCKWAVE seat without shock mitigation. Add the seating of your choice from low back to high back Helm Chairs with a choice of short and long bottom cushions. Jockey Seats as well are available in different widths and backrest configurations.

Top all of this selection off with a wide variety of options that let you recline in comfort, adjust seating position, hang on or change out seats in seconds. Do you need a specific color or fabric – that is no problem. SHOCKWAVE offers standard black but can supply seating in any color or fabric that our clients desire.

Still not enough? SHOCKWAVE is the only seat manufacturer who manufactures their products in house. Need a change – no problem – SHOCKWAVE engineering and experience will provide the custom solution you desire. SHOCKWAVE mounts additional instruments and controls, fit in tight spaces or clip in and out.

Quality Assurance is very important to us and we take pride in our customer service. We track every detail of our manufacturing process through an Enterprise Resource Program called Jobshop.

Jobshop allows our firm to manage, track and document all the manufacturing processes from complete quoting and estimating, integrated scheduling, advanced planning and procurement tools, and advanced inventory management features such as lot and serial number tracking, dimensional piece control, automated labor tracking, work order lot tracking and drawing, and procedure control.

This service creates an accountability chain throughout our entire business, meaning we are able to answer any and all questions in detail – and has helped us reduce our warranty issues to an amazing .001 percent of gross sales.

We constantly test and measure our products and have built them to be industry leading. All SHOCKWAVE Seats meet or exceed specifications and requirements for certification in both Canada and the US.

[ SPECS ]

  • SHOCKWAVE Seats are capable of mitigating dynamic exposure to levels below acceptable limits, as specified in ISO Standards 2631 Part 1 (1997) and Part 5 (2001); sections 14.4-14.4.9.3 of ASTM F1166-07
  • The suspension travel prevents the seat from hitting the suspension stops during an acceleration event 10 times the acceleration of gravity at sea level with an occupant up to the 95th percentile male in weight

EXCLUSIVE FOX FLOAT H20

SHOCK BY FOX DEFENSE

SHOCKWAVE Seats feature the FOX Float H20, a suspension shock developed in tandem with FOX Defense and our company to meet our specific marine and military requirements. We are the only marine shock mitigation seat company that works directly with FOX Defense. SHOCKWAVE shocks are not off the shelf FOX shocks. They are specially developed to SHOCKWAVE specifications by FOX Defense.

  • The FOX Float H20 is designed with an advanced spring rate, speed sensitive dampening, an EVOL tuning canister and a stainless steel filler hose to ensure the highest quality shock mitigation on the market
  • Durable for the 5th to 95th percentile payloads and any sea conditions the FOX float provides unmatched performance

Load Limits

Our seats are designed to take abuse and are warrantied to withstand heavy accelerations with full-occupancy in some of the roughest conditions open water provides.

SHOCKWAVE Seats are designed to withstand the following separately applied accelerations when occupied by the weight of 5th to 95th percentile occupants, including gear; in the case of ICE Modules and Control Pods, this also includes installed gear and equipment:

  • Single Axis Seats – 330lbs./150kg
  • Single Axis Control Pods – 440lbs/200 kg
  • ICE Systems – up to 2200lbs/1000 kg

ACCUTUNE AUTOMATIC

SHOCK SETTING

ACCUTUNE is a feature that provides the most simple and effective way of adjusting the suspension on our ICE systems. It’s an effective and intuitive system that brings the ultimate riding experience to our clients, who can adjust and moderate their experience on the fly.

[ SPECS ]

  • FOX Float H20 for infinitely adjustable suspension with velocity sensing damper
  • The FOX Float H20 on our ICE system is adjustable to meet the needs of riders and passengers between the 5th to 95th percentiles (ride height and suspension travel does not change between 5th to 95th percentiles)
  • Fixed High Volume Air Pump for filling air shock (*Note: ten pound increments are not needed as this system automatically sets the suspension to the correct suspension setting)
  • One-touch button to adjust all suspension parameters
  • ACCURIDE decal is included to provide quick check of correct suspension settings

[ OPERATION ]

  • If the seat pressure is incorrect it will show out of green zone on the ACCURIDE gauge
  • Pump up the suspension higher than required
  • Hit Auto Sag button. This will set ride height and spring rate

STANDARD ACCURIDE

ALL PAYLOADS & SEA CONDITIONS

ACCURIDE is a feature that provides immediate confirmation that the FOX Float H20 shock is set correctly for your body weight. It’s an effective and intuitive system that brings the ultimate riding experience to our clients.

[ OPERATIONS ]

  • Sit in the seat while the boat is stationary.
  • Observe the location of the green arrow with respect to the green zone. The arrow must be aligned with the green zone for correct shock air pressure.
  • If the arrow does not line up with the green zone.
  • Attach the shock pump.
  • If the green arrow is above the (-) minus air zone, bleed air from the system by pressing the bleed valve on the side of the pump.
  • If the green arrow is below the (+), or “add air” indicator zone, pump the pump to add air to the system.
  • Bounce on the seat to make sure it is settling out to the correct height.
  • When you have the pressure set to your liking remove the pump and sit in the seat. Be careful removing the pump. Even a little puff of air can make a big difference in ride height.
  • Confirm the correct location of the green arrow.
  • Replace the plastic cap on the fill valve.

3 LEVELS OF BOTTOMING

PROTECTION

Our system has been tested and proven in the most severe open water conditions possible and can withstand most anything you can throw at it. However, to ensure absolute safety and remove risk in the extremely unlikely event that a shock fails, SHOCKWAVE Seats provide three levels of bottoming protection.

[ LEVEL ONE ] Progressive Rate Air Spring

The spring rate increases as stroke increases. It is impossible to fully compress the air in the air spring at the end of the stroke. The spring rate ramps up to 3000lbs at full compression.

[ LEVEL TWO ] Rubber Bump Stop

Should there be the unlikely event of decompression the shock absorbers have a rubber bump stop internally that will prevent the suspension from bottoming.

[ LEVEL THREE ] Built-In Absorption Cushion

The cushion material is an energy absorbing foam developed for NASCAR seats, providing an extra level of protection. Along with roll bar padding and Rubber Bump Stop, our systems cover you three-fold in the unlikely occurrence of a failure.

*Please Note: SHOCKWAVE has sold thousands of FOX FLOAT H20 shocks. We have yet to have a report of sudden loss of air pressure. Any loss of air pressure reported has been slow and gradual and as a result of a slow fill valve leak.

OPTIONAL RIDE

CONTROL CENTER

The RCC is an optional system which provides on the fly changes in spring rate, spring ramp rate, payload capacity, shock dampening and ride characteristics. This is the system that was offered and tested on previous US Coast Guard RBS seat deliveries and is compatible with ACCURIDE.

Optional Ride

Control Pump

SHOCKWAVE has the only heavy duty permanently attached manual pump system available on the market. This pump can be used to adjust the pressure of the FOX Float H20 to change ride height and payload capacity.

To cut down on potential service issues, corrosion, parts count and training, we use as few moving parts as possible. Our background in NASCAR technology has helped us create a product that is simple and easy to use, but performs at the highest level possible – our seats are easy to service and repair, meaning fast installation and adventure readiness. SHOCKWAVE Seats are manufactured and designed with the needs and expectations of our clients in mind. Fewer fasteners result in fewer problems, easier maintenance and maximum durability. We take pride in our simple design, with meticulous attention paid to neatness and thoroughness of welds, riveting, machine screw assemblies, painting and sharp edges.

• All materials conform to FMVSS-302, which specifies burn resistance for materials used in occupant compartments of motor vehicles; ours exceeds the fire resistant standards A-A-59517

• SHOCKWAVE upholstery materials pass ASTM G-21 for mildew resistance (ASTM G-21 is equivalent to Method 508.3 from MIL-STD-810G)

Corrosion

Protection

Saltwater is an amazing but unforgiving element that can easily destroy materials not designed to withstand its corrosiveness. In order to control corrosion, all SHOCKWAVE Seats are constructed using non-ferrous materials, including marine-grade aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, carbon fiber and plastics. All parts are either electro polished, hard anodized or powder coated in-house for further protection from the elements. SHOCKWAVE Seats are also assembled using products from Tef-Gel™, a PTFE paste specifically formulated for use in highly corrosive environments, ensuring durability and protection of assembled hardware. Tef-Gel™ is designed to perform in areas of Rust Prevention, Corrosion Elimination and Anti-Seize. Loctite™ and proprietary NANO technology products are also used to ensure that moving parts stay moving and fixed parts stay put.

Corbin Quality

SHOCKWAVE seat cushions are manufactured in the United States by world renowned motorcycle seat manufacturer Corbin, who sculpts them to our specifications for maximum durability and support.

We chose Corbin as our cushion manufacturer because standard marine chairs just don’t make the grade. Shock mitigation requires specific design requirements and our products take an elevated level of abuse in extreme marine environments – so it is important for us to work with a company that is able to build cushions that are incredibly durable and lightweight. Corbin gives us a premium product of the highest quality.

We use closed-cell foam in all our SHOCKWAVE seats, which is specifically designed to prohibit water absorption and prevent issues of humidity, fungus or salt fog damage. As of today, there have been no reported issues of degradation in any of our cell foam products.

Easy To Operate One-Touch

Adjustments

SHOCKWAVE Seats are equipped with simple adjustment mechanisms that can be operated with a single touch using a gloved hand.

[ SPECS ]

• The fore/aft adjustment control locking mechanism is released by lever actuation and automatically locks when the lever is released

• Both the fore and aft adjustment controls are accessible from the front and the rear of the seat, making loading and unloading passengers easier

• The button for the height-adjust locking mechanism is located under the front of the seat for easy access

• A gas spring pushes the seat up when the seat is lightly loaded and allows the seat to go down under full weight

All seatbelts supplied with SHOCKWAVE Seats meet or exceed the standards and requirements from manufacturers and marine authorities.

• Seat belt attachment points have been designed to withstand forces in excess of the acceleration forces attainable by with SHOCKWAVE Seats

• All belts are aviation grade and have stainless steel or aluminum releases that can be activated by a gloved hand

• 5-point restraints have quick-release feature that can be activated with a gloved hand

• Inertia reels with remote releases pass the US FMVSS 209 and European ECE R16 specifications (ECE R16 requires a continuous 50-hour salt fog exposure and a 24-hour dry period; MIL-STD-810G [2.2.3 Duration under 509.4] requires two 24-hour exposures to salt fog and two 24-hour dry periods

SHOCKWAVE and Corbin have developed a complete line of seats which the user can mix or match components to provide the ideal seat for their requirements. This is truly the first and only configurable seat system in the world.

This system consists of many different suspension modules in various travel lengths and applications. These modules can be mounted in several different ways from deck to bulkhead mount – or you can purchase any SHOCKWAVE seat without shock mitigation. Add the seating of your choice from low back to high back Helm Chairs with a choice of short and long bottom cushions. Jockey Seats as well are available in different widths and backrest configurations.

Top all of this selection off with a wide variety of options that let you recline in comfort, adjust seating position, hang on or change out seats in seconds. Do you need a specific color or fabric – that is no problem. SHOCKWAVE offers standard black but can supply seating in any color or fabric that our clients desire.

Still not enough? SHOCKWAVE is the only seat manufacturer who manufactures their products in house. Need a change – no problem – SHOCKWAVE engineering and experience will provide the custom solution you desire. SHOCKWAVE mounts additional instruments and controls, fit in tight spaces or clip in and out.

SHOCKWAVE Seats feature the FOX Float H20, a suspension shock developed in tandem with FOX Defense and our company to meet our specific marine and military requirements. We are the only marine shock mitigation seat company that works directly with FOX Defense. SHOCKWAVE shocks are not off the shelf FOX shocks. They are specially developed to SHOCKWAVE specifications by FOX Defense.

  • The FOX Float H20 is designed with an advanced spring rate, speed sensitive dampening, an EVOL tuning canister and a stainless steel filler hose to ensure the highest quality shock mitigation on the market

Our seats are designed to take abuse and are warrantied to withstand heavy accelerations with full-occupancy in some of the roughest conditions open water provides.

SHOCKWAVE Seats are designed to withstand the following separately applied accelerations when occupied by the weight of 5th to 95th percentile occupants, including gear; in the case of ICE Modules and Control Pods, this also includes installed gear and equipment:

ACCUTUNE AUTOMATIC

SHOCK SETTING

ACCUTUNE is a feature that provides the most simple and effective way of adjusting the suspension on our ICE systems. It’s an effective and intuitive system that brings the ultimate riding experience to our clients, who can adjust and moderate their experience on the fly.

[ SPECS ]

  • FOX Float H20 for infinitely adjustable suspension with velocity sensing damper
  • The FOX Float H20 on our ICE system is adjustable to meet the needs of riders and passengers between the 5th to 95th percentiles (ride height and suspension travel does not change between 5th to 95th percentiles)
  • Fixed High Volume Air Pump for filling air shock (*Note: ten pound increments are not needed as this system automatically sets the suspension to the correct suspension setting)
  • One-touch button to adjust all suspension parameters
  • ACCURIDE decal is included to provide quick check of correct suspension settings

[ OPERATION ]

  • If the seat pressure is incorrect it will show out of green zone on the ACCURIDE gauge
  • Pump up the suspension higher than required
  • Hit Auto Sag button. This will set ride height and spring rate

STANDARD ACCURIDE

ALL PAYLOADS & SEA CONDITIONS

ACCURIDE is a feature that provides immediate confirmation that the FOX Float H20 shock is set correctly for your body weight. It’s an effective and intuitive system that brings the ultimate riding experience to our clients.

[ OPERATIONS ]

  • Sit in the seat while the boat is stationary.
  • Observe the location of the green arrow with respect to the green zone. The arrow must be aligned with the green zone for correct shock air pressure.
  • If the arrow does not line up with the green zone.
  • Attach the shock pump.
  • If the green arrow is above the (-) minus air zone, bleed air from the system by pressing the bleed valve on the side of the pump.
  • If the green arrow is below the (+), or “add air” indicator zone, pump the pump to add air to the system.
  • Bounce on the seat to make sure it is settling out to the correct height.
  • When you have the pressure set to your liking remove the pump and sit in the seat. Be careful removing the pump. Even a little puff of air can make a big difference in ride height.
  • Confirm the correct location of the green arrow.
  • Replace the plastic cap on the fill valve.

3 LEVELS OF BOTTOMING

PROTECTION

Our system has been tested and proven in the most severe open water conditions possible and can withstand most anything you can throw at it. However, to ensure absolute safety and remove risk in the extremely unlikely event that a shock fails, SHOCKWAVE Seats provide three levels of bottoming protection.

[ LEVEL ONE ] Progressive Rate Air Spring

The spring rate increases as stroke increases. It is impossible to fully compress the air in the air spring at the end of the stroke. The spring rate ramps up to 3000lbs at full compression.

[ LEVEL TWO ] Rubber Bump Stop

Should there be the unlikely event of decompression the shock absorbers have a rubber bump stop internally that will prevent the suspension from bottoming.

[ LEVEL THREE ] Built-In Absorption Cushion

The cushion material is an energy absorbing foam developed for NASCAR seats, providing an extra level of protection. Along with roll bar padding and Rubber Bump Stop, our systems cover you three-fold in the unlikely occurrence of a failure.

*Please Note: SHOCKWAVE has sold thousands of FOX FLOAT H20 shocks. We have yet to have a report of sudden loss of air pressure. Any loss of air pressure reported has been slow and gradual and as a result of a slow fill valve leak.

OPTIONAL RIDE

CONTROL CENTER

The RCC is an optional system which provides on the fly changes in spring rate, spring ramp rate, payload capacity, shock dampening and ride characteristics. This is the system that was offered and tested on previous US Coast Guard RBS seat deliveries and is compatible with ACCURIDE.

Control Pump

SHOCKWAVE has the only heavy duty permanently attached manual pump system available on the market. This pump can be used to adjust the pressure of the FOX Float H20 to change ride height and payload capacity.

SHOCKWAVE Seats are manufactured and designed with the needs and expectations of our clients in mind. Fewer fasteners result in fewer problems, easier maintenance and maximum durability. Corrosion

Protection

Saltwater is an amazing but unforgiving element that can easily destroy materials not designed to withstand its corrosiveness. In order to control corrosion, all SHOCKWAVE Seats are constructed using non-ferrous materials, including marine-grade aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, carbon fiber and plastics. All parts are either electro polished, hard anodized or powder coated in-house for further protection from the elements. SHOCKWAVE Seats are also assembled using products from Tef-Gel™, a PTFE paste specifically formulated for use in highly corrosive environments, ensuring durability and protection of assembled hardware. Tef-Gel™ is designed to perform in areas of Rust Prevention, Corrosion Elimination and Anti-Seize. Loctite™ and proprietary NANO technology products are also used to ensure that moving parts stay moving and fixed parts stay put.

SHOCKWAVE seat cushions are manufactured in the United States by world renowned motorcycle seat manufacturer Corbin, who sculpts them to our specifications for maximum durability and support.

We chose Corbin as our cushion manufacturer because standard marine chairs just don’t make the grade. Shock mitigation requires specific design requirements and our products take an elevated level of abuse in extreme marine environments – so it is important for us to work with a company that is able to build cushions that are incredibly durable and lightweight. Corbin gives us a premium product of the highest quality.

SHOCKWAVE Seats are equipped with simple adjustment mechanisms that can be operated with a single touch using a gloved hand.

• The fore/aft adjustment control locking mechanism is released by lever actuation and automatically locks when the lever is released

• Both the fore and aft adjustment controls are accessible from the front and the rear of the seat, making loading and unloading passengers easier

• The button for the height-adjust locking mechanism is located under the front of the seat for easy access

• A gas spring pushes the seat up when the seat is lightly loaded and allows the seat to go down under full weight
