Shockwave Shows Up Big Time in Sonoma

“We couldn’t have asked for a better result,” says SHOCKWAVE Founder and President, David Smith. “Chris just drove his ass off.”

Going into the weekend, the cards were stacked against the SHOCKWAVE team. As a driver, Chris Cook has done amazing things in Sonoma, having grown up in the area and raced on the track countless times – but it truly was a David versus Goliath situation.

“Some of these teams are spending a million dollars per race,” says Cook, who was behind the wheel of Rick Ware Racing’s #51 car. “Our team was much smaller with a much smaller budget.”

Regardless, Cook managed to qualify for the race and then make a marked climb through the numbers during the MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES in Sonoma, California, reaching beyond the middle of the pack to the 19th place at one point. In the end, he finished about six places forward from where he started, giving fans a great look at SHOCKWAVE Marine Suspension Seating.

“Chris was pacing as fast as the leaders during the final stages of the race,” says Smith. “He’s a talented driver who gives it his all.”

“In the end, SHOCKWAVE’s goal of competing amongst some of the largest brands on the planet was a huge success and we are proud of everyone that turned up in a big way.”
