SHOCKWAVE’s heritage dates back over four decades to the development, building and supplying of safety products for NASCAR racing vehicles. In a move to immerse ourselves in that experience again, we have developed and sponsor a SHOCKWAVE MOTORSPORT Team.
There is a direct connection between suspension technology in racing and how we design our marine suspension products. We continually challenge ourselves to learn from other industries and racing is one of the best in terms of innovation and understanding.
As a company, we identify problems, develop solutions and build winners from the ground up – and we’ve invested in a Trans Am team to win races, while increasing the quality of our products across the board, helping us maintain our position as leaders in our industry internationally.
We are passionate about Trans Am and SHOCKWAVE MOTORSPORT – and have brought renowned instructor and driver Chris Cook onto the team. Dave Smith, our Founder and CEO, also drives one of the cars – because at the end of the day we really just love pushing limits and having fun!
David Smith is a driver for SHOCKWAVE Motorsports – a racing team that was founded to help inform the marine suspension technology used in Shockwave Seats. Having started his professional career in NASCAR nearly four decades ago, Dave’s return to the racetrack has brought him full circle, developing some of the world’s best safety products and re-energizing his passion for racing. Everything he does on the track comes back to his marine suspension seating, helping his company push limits on the water that were previously unattainable.
Chris Cook is a professional driver, instructor, and a team driver for Shockwave Motorsports. He is internationally renowned for his skill and ability on the track, having become the youngest driver to be chief instructor at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. Chris’s experience and understanding of racing help him serve as both a team leader and mentor for David Smith. Prior to racing in the Trans-Am circuit with SHOCKWAVE Motorsports, Chris competed in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup, as well as the NASCAR Xfininty Series.
