Silver Ships delivered the seventh special purpose craft, law enforcement – second generation (SPC-LE2) vessel to a U.S. Coast Guard station in Texas. The 11-meter (36’) aluminum response boat, known informally as the “Coast Guard 36” for its hull length, will be used for law enforcement, search and rescue, coastal security, and environmental protection missions, Silver Ships said in a social media post.

The Coast Guard SPC-LE2 boats are part of a multi-year program that includes deliveries to stations along the East Coast, Gulf Coast, and West Coast. These vessels are armed and designed for operation in a variety of conditions, including patrol duties along U.S. borders and throughout the Caribbean, Silver Ships said. Additional SPC-LE2 deliveries have already been made to Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, Fla.; Station South Padre Island, Texas; and the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy in Charleston, S.C.
