S5 Recreational Product Lineup Now Includes a Stainless Steel Base
Shockwave Seats, a Canadian-based marine suspension company revolutionizing marine shock mitigation around the globe, announces the expansion of the Shockwave S5 recreational product line. The expansion includes the introduction of the stainless steel Shockwave S5-SS, a premium product, as well as the Shockwave S5-LW for the fresh water market and lighter duty applications.
The Shockwave-S5-SS, a Premium Suspension to Last a Lifetime
The Shockwave S5 product line just expanded with the introduction of our new Shockwave S5-SS suspension base. This suspension base is electropolished and welded using 316 stainless steel. The all stainless design is best suited for saltwater environments, particularly seas that are prone to high salinity and humidity. The S5-SS utilizes the same forward action suspension design that recreational boaters worldwide have come to expect, providing occupants with excellent shock mitigation in heavy sea conditions.
The S5-SS, Stainless Steel suspension base features:
- 316 stainless steel components and hardware, welded tube and plate, electropolished finish
- Strong 4-link design which increases lateral stability, performance, and reduces suspension base flex under high-loads
- Fully adjustable, custom tuned FOX Rhythm air spring and shock
- Similar to the S5 Sentinel suspension, it weighs in at less than 30 lbs/13.6 kgs
- Outstanding 5 year warranty
- Base plate is 2" shorter than the current S5 Sentinel, for a better fit in some boats
The Shockwave S5-SS offers a high-quality FOX shock absorber and IGUS bushings. All the features present on the S5 Sentinel have been maintained on the S5-SS, including minimal parts count, 316 stainless steel hardware, and an adjustable FOX Rhythm air shock that has a custom tuned rebound and compression damper developed by Shockwave specifically for boat seat mitigation.

Once in production, the new Shockwave S5-SS suspension base will have a typical lead time of 1-2 weeks, like our current recreational products. The S5-SS product is expected to be available to order in Q1 2025.
The Shockwave S5-SS suspension base is compatible with all the same Shockwave accessories as the other S5 suspension bases, as well as the Shockwave S5 Seat, by Corbin–formerly known as the Commander Seat.
The Shockwave S5-LW, Ideal for Light Sea Conditions and Fresh Water
The S5-LW (lightweight) marine suspension base is our entry-level option in the S5 recreational product line. We wanted an affordable option for recreational boaters with lighter demand applications, aimed at the freshwater market and on the ocean in cabin boats. “Improving and upgrading the original S5 design, made sense so customers have more options for different applications and different price points,” added Smith.
The Shockwave S5-LW marine suspension base is constructed from anodized, 360 cast aluminum, with a custom tuned and valved X-Fusion O2 R air spring and shock with adjustable rebound, that is finished with a black or white powder coat and utilizes stainless steel hardware. The S5-LW product is expected to be available to order in Spring 2025.
Shockwave S5 Sentinel Name Change to S5-AL
The popular Shockwave S5 Sentinel suspension base has been renamed, the new name is: the Shockwave S5-AL suspension base. The name has been changed to bring consistency and alignment to the recreational S5 product line. A significant improvement brought to the S5-AL is a new anodization process on the 360 cast aluminum prior to powder coating, providing an extra layer of protection from the elements for this suspension base.
The Shockwave S5-AL retains all features of the formerly known S5 Sentinel, including the adjustable, custom tuned and valved FOX Rhythm air spring and shock with adjustable rebound, construction materials and cast 360 aluminum –hence the “AL” product name.
Our global distributors will be offering these products to their customers in 2025, so dealers and boat builders around the world will have access to more recreational product choices and price points from Shockwave.
