SHOCKWAVE Seats, a Canadian-based marine suspension company revolutionizing marine safety around the globe, announces its seats were selected for a new 52 foot ‘Super Interceptor’ military vessel, capable of 70-knots at top speed. Initially 15 of these aluminum welded vessels are on order by the customer, from Metal Shark’s facility in Louisiana, with six SHOCKWAVE S3 seats installed on each of them.

Metal Shark Boats has equipped the vessel with SHOCKWAVE’s model SW-S3-T1302. This drop-down bolster seat is designed to protect occupants from high speed wave impacts and features an ergonomically contoured fully supportive cushion along with high-back for head and neck support. These drop-down bolster seats are also equipped with SHOCKWAVE’s folding footrest mounted in suspension. The footrest automatically stows or deploys with the seat base cushion to enable a faster transition from a seated to standing position.

Pistol grips and 4-point seatbelts ensure occupants will remain seated and secure throughout the vessel’s range of operations. Fore-aft and height adjustment are provided to accommodate varying occupants.

At the heart of the SHOCKWAVE system is the top rated S3 Suspension module with an 8-inch, air sprung FOX Defense damper.  In independent testing the SHOCKWAVE S3 Suspension seat was proven to out-perform all other marine suspension systems by at least a 60% margin.

This vessel was designed in response to a demand for a blue-water capable interdiction vessel with over 60 knot capabilities.  This multi-mission, high-performance vessel is an optimized version of Metal Shark’s Fearless-class high performance vessels which are currently in service the US Navy, NOAA, and multiple law enforcement agencies in the US.
