Captain Travis White enhances safety and comfort on Lake Superior with SHOCKWAVE Sentinel Suspension Seats

Captain Travis White is a USCG-licensed charter captain based out of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. Travis has spent the past 15 years guiding clients for trout and salmon species on the Great Lakes, primarily Lake Superior. His business, Keweenaw Charter Fishing Company (www.keweenawcharters.com), offers a variety of sport fishing trips ranging from nearshore trolling to offshore structure fishing. Captain Travis has earned a reputation as one of the premier charters offering jigging trips for massive and hard-pulling lake trout at Stannard Rock, an isolated reef complex located nearly 40 miles offshore from the nearest safe harbour. II Efishient, a 26’5″ Thunder Jet Alexis Pro heavy gauge aluminum fishing boat, is the newest edition to the Keweenaw Charters fleet. During the past winter, this boat was thoughtfully rigged by Travis and the crew at R&R Marine (Sault Ste. Marie, MI) to provide serious offshore capabilities for Lake Superior’s expansive and often rough waters.

Having previously experienced a cracked rib injury from a hard impact while boating in rough water, Captain Travis immediately sought an upgrade to his boat’s stock seat bases. After much research and comparing different options, he installed a pair of Shockwave Sentinel supension seat modules under the captain and forward passenger seats. In addition to charter fishing, Travis has a mechanical engineering background and is a researcher at Michigan Technology University’s Great Lakes Research Center. It was the simple and robust mechanical design of the Senintel combined with Shockwave’s use of premium quality components that made this an obvious winner over other products in its category. In the spring of 2023, Traves joined Shockwave’s Pro-Staff representing the Great Lakes region.

With a good part of the current season already spent at the helm of the new boat, it is clear that the Shockwave Sentinel suspension modules will make the long runs for offshore fishing trips much more comfortable and safer, reducing fatigue and lowering the chances for back and neck injuries. For Captain Travis, the helm is his office, and ivesting in safety and comfort wasn’t optional. The Sentinel suspension modules offer the same benefits for Travis’ clients, and the additional Shockwave-equipped seat on the boat is a highly coveted throne, especially for passengers with pain or injuries that could prevent or interfere with a fun day on the water.
